Recognized as one of the Bay Area’s premier printmakers, Seiko Tachibana engages an organic language in monoprints and intaglios that reference biological structures. For this exhibition, the artist will create an installation of layered paper panels. The artist’s circular, cell-like forms cascade from the ceiling and span across the gallery space, enclosing viewers in the delicate hovering movement of textured paper.

In Tachibana’s work, dots, lines, circles, scratches and other intuitive marks intermix and overlap one another. Her spare graphic sensibility repeats and subtly shifts between panels, creating a unified environment. Tachibana views her method as analogous to the building-blocks of life forms – systems of cells methodically reproducing and slowly growing and evolving in shape and form.
