My new collection for Crate and Barrel!!!!!

“Earths Rhythm” for Crate and Barrel stores!

Artist Deb Haugen’s abstract compositions pulse with the rhythm and flux she so keenly observes in nature. In this series of three prints, she explores the passage of time, sectioning life’s processes into dynamic representations of birth, growth and decay. Using sweeping painterly gestures balanced with minutely detailed marks, she creates intriguing worlds that burst forth with creative energy and intricate complexity. Each print of the artist’s original is reproduced as a giclée print on paper, presented under glass in a matte black frame crafted of finger-jointed plantation pine.

pen and ink and my ocd

detail I’ve been looking at a lot of ink drawings lately. Ink artists are some of the liveliest artist out there. I love to obsess on my little drawings. They are definitely a meditation of sorts for me. My mind is gone, just following shape, form and letting my intuition take me where it wants to go, it’s like Xmas. I never know ahead of time where I will end up. It’s traveling without a passport, no boundaries, going where ever. It really gives you a feeling of freedom. That’s what I love about it….No boundaries…..well, that and it satisfies my obsessive compulsive desires for hours.

Just go and get a pen, and sit for 2 hours, follow the lines, the ones you don’t see…..the ones that need to be there but aren’t. Follow your gut. YOU will be amazed.

My pen and ink continues….

They are having an event this weekend in Ojai to help raise funds for this young, young, woman’s  battle for health. Even if you cannot attend, you could send a note or a small donation thru the website…

Her story is quite touching, she has young children…..let’s all send her strength….and light from above! I happen to believe miracles happen every day.

organic art #2

It is a burst of consciousness. It’s what happens when you “get it”. It’s the light bulb going off, and understanding enveloping you. It’s when you can finally get over yourself, step aside, and see something without the history in your eyes. It’s clear and decisive, it is purity.

Cucumbers….superfoods

(NaturalNews) Cucumbers are the fourth most cultivated vegetable in the world and known to be one of the best foods for your body’s overall health, often referred to as a superfood. Cucumbers are often sprayed with pesticides so it is important to buy organic or even better, grow them yourself.

Here are 10 Benefits of cucumbers:

1.Quick pick me-up – Cucumbers are a good source of B vitamins. Put down your sodas and coffee and eat a cucumber slice.

2. Rehydrates body and replenishes daily vitamins – Cucumbers are 95 percent water, keeping the body hydrated while helping the body eliminate toxins. Cucumbers have most of the vitamins the body needs in a single day. Don’t forget to leave the skin on because the skin contains a good amount of vitamin C, about 10 percent of the daily-recommended allowance.

3. Skin and hair care – If you don’t like to eat the skin, it can be used for skin irritations and sunburns as aloe would be used. Place a slice over puffy eyes and its anti-inflammatory properties help reduce puffiness. The silicon and sulfur in cucumbers help to stimulate hair growth.

4. Fight cancers – Cucumber are known to contain lariciresinol, pinoresinol, and secoisolariciresinol. These three lignans have a strong history of research in connection with reduced risk of several cancer types, including breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer and prostate cancer.

5. Home care – Eliminates a foggy mirror. Before taking a shower, rub a cucumber slice along a mirror and it will eliminate the mirror fogging up. Instead of WD40, take a cucumber slice and rub it along a squeaky hinge and your door will stop squeaking.

6. Relieves bad breath – Take a slice of cucumber and press it to the roof of your mouth with your tongue for 30 seconds, the phytochemcials will kill the bacteria in your mouth responsible for causing bad breath.

7. Hangover cure – To avoid a morning hangover or headache; eat a few cucumber slices before going to bed. Cucumbers contain enough sugar, B vitamins and electrolytes to replenish many essential nutrients, reducing the intensity of both hangover and headache.

8. Aids in weight loss and digestion – Due to its low calorie and high water content, cucumber is an ideal diet for people who are looking for weight loss. The high water content and dietary fiber in cucumbers are very effective in ridding the body of toxins from the digestive system, aiding digestion. Daily consumption of cucumbers can be regarded as a remedy for chronic constipation.

9. Cures diabetes, reduces cholesterol and controls blood pressure – Cucumber juice contains a hormone which is needed by the cells of the pancreas for producing insulin which has been found to be beneficial to diabetic patients. Researchers found that a compound called sterols in cucumbers may help reduce cholesterol levels. Cucumbers contain a lot of potassium, magnesium and fiber. These work effectively for regulating blood pressure. This makes cucumbers good for treating both low blood pressure and high blood pressure.

10. Promotes joint health, relieves gout and arthritis pain -Cucumber is an excellent source of silica, which is known to help promotes joint health by strengthening the connective tissues. They are also rich in vitamin A, B1, B6, C & D, Folate, Calcium, Magnesium, and Potassium. When mixed with carrot juice, they can relieve gout and arthritis pain by lowering the uric acid levels

Patience…..

Well, so this is about patience. It is  so big for me in my life. I do have a LOT OF PATIENCE, and almost to a fault. Sometimes I see I am being patient, way too patient for the situation and instead need to take action.

It’s being able to say NO, which a lot of women have a hard time with. We do and are everything to everyone.

My goal is to be true with my abilities, feelings, and actions.

Can I honestly accomplish what I’m agreeing to do?

Life would be so much easier.

Is that the point?

Yes, in my mind I think yes, life is actually about smelling the roses…..truly it is.

Something to remember….HAVE FUN.

So many people have forgotten how to have fun, what it takes to have fun, and even the word fun.

We get so consumed in work, families, responsibilities, health,  working out, getting ahead,  etc.

Ask yourself this…. what is fun for me?

When was the last time you said “That was fun”

Do you propagate fun in your own life ?

You should be doing something fun in your life at least once a day, life should be fun…..Not a fight, not a struggle, create lightness in your day, laugh, take a moment to just be silent. Just be. Be happy, be creative, be light hearted and be a child once again. Look through the looking glass at the wonder around you. Even if you don’t see it it’s still there, everyday…..all you have to do is lift your head and see.

I have “Golden Moments” since my near death experience.

Make every moment “Golden Moments” that remind you of what it is to be alive, what it is to be thankful, what it is to just be in the moment.

Life will be so much richer…..
